Challenge
Womenswear and menswear pull in genuinely different directions. Womenswear rewards fluidity — silhouette, drape, the kind of detailing that gives a piece personality. Menswear rewards precision — structure, function, fit that holds up to scrutiny. Working across both meant constantly recalibrating instincts rather than relying on a single design language, while still keeping every piece grounded in what the market would actually respond to.

Solution
The process ran end-to-end on every piece: trend research to ground design decisions in where the market was heading, fabric sourcing to match material to concept, technical sketching to translate ideas into something a pattern-maker could actually build from, and overseeing sample development to make sure the final piece matched the original intent through to production.
In womenswear, that process leaned into fluid silhouettes and considered detailing — designing for movement and personality. In menswear, the same process shifted toward structure and function — designing for fit, durability, and purpose. Holding both disciplines at once meant the creative instincts built in one category constantly informed and sharpened the other.
Impact
This dual experience — designing across two categories with very different design languages — strengthened my adaptability and design versatility across different audiences and styles. It's that range that carried me from an internship at Camilla into freelance design work, comfortable moving between brand worlds rather than staying fixed to one aesthetic or one way of working.
